Jesus Christ shares His authority with us
We saw in the second message in this series that Jesus Christ followed a process to bring His disciples into His ministry. We discovered that it was a process over a period of time moving from investigation to inclusion to involvement. We have now reached the involvement stage, as Jesus invites a group of twelve disciples (and more later) to share in His power and authority.
We don’t often think about authority when we discuss discipleship, yet we will see that was a crucial element. Jesus’ authority was a major issue with the Pharisees, and when He returns to the Father, it will continue to be an issue for His disciples.
This week we want to begin to understand what sharing His authority means for us. As we do, we will better understand how participating in the mission of Jesus Christ is truly about “setting the captives free.”
