Taking it to heart

Jesus Christ has come to the point in his training of the disciples and his interaction with the crowds that he changes his teaching style. He now employs “parables”, short but expressive stories that make their point through the story-telling and focus on a single lesson. Mark 4:1-20, along with Matthew 13 and Luke 8,
show Jesus Christ using multiple parables to explain
the nature of the Kingdom of God.

His definitive parable is what we commonly call “The Parable of the Sower”, though it may be more appropriately termed “The Parable of the Soils.” Our discussion this week focuses on that parable and its importance to understanding what it shows us about being Jesus’ disciples.
